Holmasjön Prospektering AB is granted exploration permit Kallmora #3 focusing on REE. The company as well as SGU (Sveriges Geologiska Undersökningar) judge the area as very interesting regarding rare earth elements.
Kallmora #3 is a 185 hectares exploration permit in Norberg county, Västermanlands län. Within this area there are several old iron and copper mines from the 1800s to the 1900s as well as a few mines where lead and manganite were broken. The last mine within the permit was closed in 1948.
In one of all mining areas within Kallmora #3 SGU found samples containing rare earth elements (REE). These are tantalum (ta) a metal used in al equipment with electronics with demand on small dimensions motivating high prices. The other metal niobium (Nb) is used in extra strong weld joints and components in jet engines.
SGU (Sveriges Geologiska Undersökningar) judge this area as very interesting regarding REE. SGU will conduct surveys and studies in a EU project to find rare earth elements mainly in the area around the town of Bastnäs and Norberg where also Holmasjön Prospekterings permit is.
Holmasjön Prospektering AB will during the winter/ spring of 2018 perform magnetic surveys on the exploration permit to locate the most interesting parts. The company also intend to perform geological mapping on Kallmora #3 including the old mining areas within the exploration permit.
